Planned, sequential PK-12 physical education provides psychomotor, cognitive and affective content and learning experiences that promote optimum personal development. Quality curriculum and instruction, provided in a safe, supportive environment, offer meaningful, challenging learning for all students, and result in lifetime learning outcomes of skills, literacy, and ability to understand concepts and develop plans for lifetime physical activity and wellness. CONNECTICUT STATE FITNESS ASSESSMENT

Each fall students in grades 4 and 6 participate in the Connecticut State Fitness Assessment. The assessment provides clear goals for minimum fitness levels.

The test items assess the performance objectiives of:

  • abdominal strength and endurance
  • lower back and hamstring flexibility
  • upper body strength and endurance
  • aerobic endurance.

The test items are:

  1. 90 degree push up
  2. curl up
  3. mile run
  4. back saver sit and reach
